Matchbook Dunnigan Hills Old Head Chardonnay is Fine Wine Delivery's most exciting Californian discovery since Bogle. A complex blend of 6 Chardonnay fruit clones aged in a combination of 22% new barrels and 78% Old Hogs Head (2 to 5-year-old oak) American and European barrels – imparting a mix of vanilla, coconut and cinnamon notes to the ripe deluge of stone fruit.
Smells
an exotic bouquet of stone fruit, passionfruit, guava, rock melon leading to vanilla, coconut and toasty notes.
Tastes
Malolactic fermentation and regular lees stirring layers the wine with nutty/creamy/buttery tastes. The upshot... a creamy balanced, rich and buttery Chardonnay that is hard to put your glass down. Chardonnay you just want to sit and sip all night long... that also pairs well with poultry and pork dishes, now through 2026. The recommended serving temperature is 10-13 degrees.
