Description
Forrest Estate have long provided NZ with the benchmark for rich aromatic whites, and this Chenin Blanc is no different; it was a revelation for our tasting panel, one of the finest Chenin Blancs we've tasted and it's still only very young. This wine is a long way from home with its roots (pun intended) in the Loire Valley, France – but equally comfortable in Marlborough. The wine was picked in the cool of night, fermented and aged in large German oak cuvees for 12 months on lees for added texture and palate weight. Crack it open with some pork belly and let the good times roll...
Smells
Peach, melon, apricot, with a crisp minerality and spice.
Tastes
Rich soft melon characters overlap and meld away into apricot, peach and nectarine. Classic mineral finish which lingers around and leaves you wanting more. Enjoy with aromatic food, fresh seasonal asparagus with oil, lemon and Parmesan, in its youth or age 5-7 years. The recommended serving temperature is 7-9 degrees.
