Edelstone from my cellar. Henschke Reds have amazing age ability... powerful, concentrated but always very fine.” Jeff

The Henschke legacy began in 1841 when Johann Christian Henschke left his home in Brandenburg for a new life in South Australia… settling in Lobethal in the Adelaide Hills. In 1847 he took the “Oath of Allegiance” enabling him to become a landowner and purchased 70 acres in Krondorf in the Barossa Valley. It’s well worth visiting their website to read about the history, landmarks, hardship, perseverance, and vision behind this 6th generation Australian family wine enterprise… a truly iconic Australian producer.

Stephen Henschke is 5th generation and current custodian of the family business. He gained a Bachelor of Science from the Adelaide University in 1973 and took over the reins of Henschke in 1979. These days Stephen shares the winemaking with son Johann and Stephen & Prue’s other children Justine and Andreas, work in marketing and ambassadorial roles at Henschke. It is the quintessential family wine business. When you read the brief overview of 150+ years of history on their site, it reveals all the generations of family involvement, the critical land purchases and vineyard plantings, and the prolific successes of Henschke wines globally.

It’s a privilege for our family wine retailing business to have the opportunity to market these iconic Australian wines. In doing so we honour and respect all 6 generations of this treasured Australian winemaking family. Wines like Hill of Grace come from 160-year-old vines… the generational commitment to their land and transfer of knowledge are why Henschke are the world class producer they are today.

These are wines that fine wine merchants globally are screaming out for larger allocations… so it is with gratitude to Henschke that we at Fine Wine Delivery can procure the allocations that we have.
