Description
Arguably NZ's most famous modern-day Pinot Noir, it's amazing how often this wine pops up when we're travelling on the other side of the world. Its fame is well earned too, with the Dicey family playing an instrumental role, with the original plantings being made by Robin and now his sons James and Matt take care of the vineyards and winemaking respectively. There's nothing dicey about the wine though - it's the picture of consistency being 100% Estate grown on the hallowed soils of Bannockburn.
Smells
A whiff of wood smoke, sweet plum, dark cherry and liquorice.
Tastes
Supple and sweetly fruited, there's an array of spices and cherry fruit, with a creamy texture and a lovely smoky finish. Yet another classic expression of an excellent Otago vintage, this will be a perfect match for Asian-spiced duck breast between now and 2020.
