Description

Laurent-Perrier is one of the most distinguished family-owned Champagne Houses established in 1812... based in the heart of Champagne they are famous for their outstanding Cuvée Rose. Their very excellent La Cuvée Brut NV is a more accessibly priced introduction to this Grande Marque Champagne House... its also a darling of the NZ restaurant and hospitality trade. The meticulous blend for this Champagne is predominately Chardonnay (55%), with 35% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Meunier topping it off. La Cuvée spends four years on lees in bottle (more than twice the time on lees of the big budget brands you find on special in supermarkets) ... extended aging on lees is core to increased complexity, finesse and fine bubbly mousse common to superior Champagne. There is no quality substitute for time in bottle on lees... Grande Marque NV Champagne like Laurent Perrier La Cuvée is always more exciting in its youth.

Smells

The Chardonnay influence dominates with lemon, white peach and grapefruit zest... threaded by seductive brioche and gingerbread lees aromas.

Tastes

Elegant white peach with fresh lemon and citrus mesh beautifully with the toasty... nutty... spice lees aging complexities. The creamy mousse is superb, buoyed by fresh acidity driving to a lingering and more-ish finish. The perfect aperitif – the pleasure is enhanced by a goats cheese and thyme tart or the like. Give you its best as a young fresh release.
