Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque is the original Belle Époque vintage cuvée, first appearing in 1964. Instantly recognisable throughout the world, its bottle is adorned with the graceful spray of Japanese white anemones created for Maison Perrier-Jouët by Art Nouveau master Emile Gallé in 1902. The whole package is eye-catching, not just the bottle, and where one glance gives that sense of recognition that we all seek with Champagne and that sense of security knowing that the wine inside the bottle will be nothing less than spectacular. Made from 50% Grand Cru Chardonnay, 45% Grand Cru Pinot Noir and 5% Meunier. It’s unusual to find Meunier in a prestige cuvée, but in this case, it adds fruitiness and acts as a bridge between the Pinot and Chardonnay.
Smells
Abundant fruit notes of pear and prune, exotic hints of vanilla pod and caramelised grape, and a distinctive woody character with notes of myrrh, cedar, and fine-grained oak.
