Description
Made in only the best years, Comtes, as it’s affectionately known, is Taittinger’s flagship cuvee. Created by Claude Taittinger in 1952, it is an elegant Blanc de Blancs (100% Chardonnay) which 5% sees oak maturation. Matured for 8-10 years in their cathedral-like chalk cellars, it is the ultimate expression of the Grand Crus villages of the Cote des Blancs. While it is sublime now, it will only improve with time in the cellar… if you have the patience!
Smells
Engaging aromas of lemon zest, chamomile, jasmine, peach and pastry with a touch of iodine salinity.
Tastes
Incredibly fresh, full of depth and power yet elegant. The palate is packed with plump citrus, granny smith apple, white peach and toasted hazelnut. A fine and tight bead with such a luxurious mouthfeel, as it should be. Enjoy with a beetroot, thyme and goat’s cheese tart.
