Description
What is not to love about off dry (bordering on sweet) Riesling? They’re unctuous, generous and everyone loves dessert, right? The Aria Riesling by Pegasus Bay has always been one of New Zealand’s best expressions and only made in the very best years using late harvest (raisined) fruit. The 2023 is excellent and although slightly drier than the past, it’s perhaps all the better for it and more approachable/appropriate for the masses. Enjoy frequently on release and make the most of the sweet honeycomb, and dried apricot characters or age indefinitely to see oilier, petroleum-like nuances develop.
Smells
Classic sweet Riesling characters of stone fruit curd, orange blossom, mandarin spray, orange zest, honey, beeswax, and spice.
Tastes
Lovely viscous mouthfeel with a nice orange zest, honeycomb and dried stone fruit characters with delicate acidity keeping all elements in check. Enjoy with fruit-based desserts or pungent cheeses anytime from tonight through 2030+. The recommended serving temperature is 6-8 degrees.
