A 10-Year-Old Tawny is a style of tawny port aged in wood. Although it is believed the average age of the wine in the bottle is 10 years or more, this is not a legal definition. Aged in 600-640L casks called ‘pipes’, the wine undergoes a process of gradual, controlled oxidation and esterification as the colour fades and the esters (fruity aromas and flavours) develop in the wine. Resulting in a heady perfume and a rich, creamy, smooth palate that is simply irresistible. Also once bottled they are ready for drinking.

aromas include orange, apricot, and black plum, underpinned by vanilla woody notes with hints of dried fruits.

there is superb structure and balance between the fruit, level of development and alcohol, supremely rich, creamy, full-bodied and with a long finish that extends forever. Heavenly flavours of dried cherries, raisins, dark chocolate, and toasted nuts morph into a freshness emphasised by the acid/wood combination. Delicious with desserts made with dried fruits, orange marmalade and nuts. One sip and you will be a convert if you are not already.
