Description
The Southern Spanish area of Montilla Moriles is famous for making wines similar to its famous neighbour Jerez, but at much more affordable prices. The Alvear family have been making these outstanding PXs for over 300 years!
Smells
A hugely intense nose of Golden syrup, raisins, candied orange peel, sweet tea, caramel and toffee.
Tastes
Sweet, viscous and nutty on the palate, flavours of hot cross buns, sultanas, brioche and clove honey thrill the senses, with a lovely hit of warming alcohol coming in like a cuddle at the end. Famous for its versatility with a wide range of desserts, it pairs well with crème brulee, cheesecake, panna cotta, and caramel/nut based tarts, as well as most fruit based desserts. No need to hurry, this wine will cellar well through 2030+.
