Description
During the 1870s Imperial Russia was considered the British Empire’s most dangerous enemy. On the distant shores of South Australia, a very real (but quite unfounded) fear of invasion followed, and volunteers were rallied to keep the marauding Russians at bay. Frank Potts led the local army equipped with his trusty muzzle-loader ‘The Iron Duke’, named for the Duke of Wellington. This wine celebrates Frank’s community leadership. A best of the best barrel selection of Cabernet Sauvignon, distinctive varietal, and regional character. After a period of cellaring, it is normal for some sediment to form; decanting one - two hours prior to drinking is recommended.
Smells
with notes of violets, cedar, black cherry, and cassis with delightful undertones of black olives, dark earth, and forest floor nuances.
Tastes
a swathe of dark berry fruits, blackcurrant bud, with dark chocolate and spice flavours. Finely tempered tannins, a combination of the fruit tannins and the firm, structural French oak tannins forming a harmony and helping to personify the chiselled and detailed finish. Drinking now or age for up to 30 Year. Serve with your favourite red meats.
