Description
A family-owned winery, where the home block was planted in 1897 and they still draw fruit from that century-old vineyard today. They have six vineyards across McLaren Vale and focus on small-batch, handmade wines. From the warmer 2021 vintage, this classic McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon is made from three of these vineyards with an average vine age of 15-20 years.
Smells
Alluring floral notes, the flowers of sweet peas, and black fruits, laced with gentle spicy aromas.
Tastes
A lot of sophistication in the bottle for this modest price. The blackberry fruits with a touch of cassis and mocha filter through the slightly creamy textured palate. The tannins are finely grained, and the structure poised, carrying the dark fruits through to a pleasingly long finish. Great drinking now, especially if decanted just prior to serving but will age 4-6 years. The perfect partner for a fillet of steak served rare.
