Famous for his films, Francis Ford Coppola's ’other passion’ has been producing wine for over 30 years… with which he has mirrored his cinematic success. This Diamond Label Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of two regions, El Dorado County, which provides tannin and structure, and Paso Robles, which adds fragrance and plushness. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and the little known French grape Ségalin (renowned for its strong colour and tannins), a little bit goes a long way to providing a nice backbone to the plush Californian fruit. It spends 12 months in French oak before going to bottle. A plush, round California Cabernet with good tannin structure ensuring a smooth, lengthy, rounded palate. If you like more body and plushness, but delivered with poise… this Coppola Diamond Label Cabernet is for you. Will cellar comfortably through 2025-2027.
Smells
Warming, opulent aromas of blackberry, dark cherry, spice and mocha.
Tastes
Generous fruit throughout the palate, cherry, berry and cassis prominent. Hints of coffee, mocha, light toast, and vanillin gather momentum through the warm, charming finish. Well-rounded tannins and silky texture nicely keep everything in check. Drink now but could cellar until 2026. Enjoy with rich red meat dishes or moussaka.
