Description
Named The Davey for the vineyard of brothers John and Kym Davey, run ultra-sustainably on land purchased by their grandfather in the 1950s. The wines that come off the plot are powerful and full-bodied, accentuated by the good vintage conditions through the whole of McLaren Vale in 2022. This Cabernet is a reserve wine that represents the best available from any given year.
Smells
Fragrant blackcurrant, eucalypt, tobacco, cedar, and liquorice.
Tastes
Chewy tannins and succulent black fruit, the underlying iron mineral character a distinguishing feature of the wine. Exceptionally concentrated with plenty of more delicate spice and floral notes through the back palate, the tannin structure and freshness of the wine bodes well for extended cellaring, though it is delicious now. The perfect partner to all roasted or char grilled meats.
