Description
Sons of Eden is Corey Ryan’s (of Henschke and Villa Maria fame) personal project, Pumpa named as a tribute to local legend, Len Pumpa, it encompasses everything great about the famous Australian Shiraz Cabernet blend. The 2018 vintage sees a 88/12 split between Cabernet and Shiraz - All fruit came off old vines (circa 30+ years) hand harvested, destemmed and fermented in small 1-2 tonne open top fermenters. Matured on full yeast lees for 12 months prior to being blended, bottled without finings or filtration. Needless to say, this wine has the full monty of winemaking, plus premium old-vine fruit, yet very affordable.
Smells
Perfumed blackcurrant, dried herbs, roasted coffee bean and milk chocolate aromas with subtle minty undertones.
Tastes
Velvety textured palate with great length of flavour and roundness. With subtle savoury nuance to the finish of the palate, approachable now but will reward further cellaring (10+ years). A perfect match with your favourite roasted red meats.
