Description
Xanadu, meaning a perfect or extraordinarily beautiful place… there is magic in the soils of this Western Australian piece of paradise. The 2021 season brought challenges, but who would know when you let this superb 94-95-96/100 & Double Gold Xanadu Margaret River Cabernet traverse your palate. Meticulous fruit selection resulted in elegance and varietal purity. The fruit was sourced predominantly from the Margaret River subregions of Wilyabrup (40%) and Wallcliffe (44%), with additional contributions from Xanadu and Stevens Road vineyards. The hard yards and diligence in the vineyard paid off, resulting in this wonderfully refined Cabernet Sauvignon (90%) with a splash of Malbec (6%) and Petit Verdot (4%) adding flesh and richness. Full of early charm, it will become more complex and rounded through 2027-2031.
Smells
Vibrant, characteristic, Cabernet aromas of cassis, mulberries, and blue fruits… entwined with hints of mocha, rock salt, and floral notes.
Tastes
Full-bodied with undeniable elegance… the generous palate offers a core of fleshy, inky berry fruits including boysenberry, blackcurrants and Satsuma plums. Dense and well-structured, the dark fleshy fruit characteristics and ripe tannins combine perfectly to culminate in a delicious, persistent Cabernet finish. Bargain Cellar Cabernet, drinking well through 2027-2031. Enjoy with roasted red meats. For optimal drinking pleasure serve around 16-18 degrees.
