Description
Xanadu, meaning a perfect or extraordinarily beautiful place, is a fitting name for this piece of paradise in Western Australia. 2022 was an epic vintage for Margaret River, and this Xanadu Cabernet Sauvignon is reaping all the benefits! From mature vineyards in the Margaret River subregions of Wilyabrup (40%) and Wallcliffe (40%) predominantly, with additional contributions from Yallingup (16%) and Treeton (4%). The wine sings, an amazing complex and complete wine. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 88%, Malbec 8% and Petit Verdot 4%.
Smells
The wine displays vibrant, characteristic Cabernet aromas of cassis, mulberries, and blue fruits entwined with hints of mocha, nori, and potpourri.
Tastes
Full-bodied yet refined, the generous palate offers a core of inky berry fruits; boysenberry, blackcurrants and Satsuma plums. Dense and well-structured, the palate is layered with these dark fleshy fruit characteristics and ripe tannins which culminate through to a persistent Cabernet finish. Cellar for a few years or decant well before drinking, there is plenty of life in it though and it will reward careful cellaring through 2035+, serve with roasted red meats. For optimal drinking pleasure serve around 16-18 degrees.
