Description
A star on the rise we discovered on our buying trip to France in 2016. Although these wines are Saint Emilion Grand Cru, the estate has recently been upgraded to Grand Cru Classe, a reflection of the slowly increasing quality across the last decade. Still well under-priced, the behind the scenes investment is above anything we’ve seen anywhere in New Zealand, and the wines remain a steal… for now. A superlative wine from the legendary 2019 vintage!
Smells
Fragrant liquorice, blackberry, plum and black olive, with wild florals and spices.
Tastes
Full and welcoming on the palate, the ripe, fine tannins focus the ideal combination of intense fruit and fresh acidity. The finish goes on and on, revealing layers of complexity yet to unfurl. Still youthful at 8 years old, this wine will be great drinking over the next decade or more.
