Description
Named after the Benedictine abbey of Faize, situated close to the property. The Chateau is positioned on the slopes of Calon hill, the highest point in the region of Libourne, and it is one of the oldest wine-growing “terriors” around Bordeaux. 12 hectares of vines on an elevated site, extend in a single stretch over soil of stony “graves” and clay. Hand-harvested, it is a blend of 94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc with the final blend spending 12-18 months in French Oak barriques.
Smells
Vibrant aromas of red and black currants, mixed spice and cocoa
Tastes
A brooding red, the palate unfolds with generous blackcurrants, black doris plum, a touch of liquorice and a smoky complexity. A svelte texture with fine tannins and perfectly integrated oak, it has a long, seductive finish. A standout red to enjoy now through 2029 and beyond.
