Description
Purchased in 2011 by the Barton Sartorius family and re-baptised the gorgeous estate Chateau Mauvesin Barton. Barton, a famous Bordelaise family with the Midas touch, where all four family members are involved, perpetuating tradition and guaranteeing quality. 2018 is a blend of 54% Merlot, 39.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6.5% Cabernet Franc. Handpicked, careful selection, fermented in stainless steel and aged for 12-15 months in French oak barrels, one third new.
Smells
aromas of cedar, dark spices, wet undergrowth and almost a minty lift giving way to vanilla and toasty oak.
Tastes
a very stylish wine showing the hallmarks of a Classic Bordeaux without characteristics of the hot growing season. The palate is captivating, vibrant, energetic, red fruit flavours abound with dusty, chalky tannins that gently grip the cheeks, completely satisfying and has a long life ahead. Will easily age 15years+. Serve with your favourite red meats.
