Description
A blend of the two major sub-regions of Hawke's Bay, the Bridge Pa Triangle (Metals) and the Gimblett Gravels, the classic blend of Merlot and Malbec make for likely bedfellows in this great 2020 release. Very rich and rounded with lots of dark fruit and spice, the tannic structure is ripe, and generous, yet with a warming chalky grip, following the Coopers Creek trend to extract lots of tannin into their wines. The 2020 Metals & Gravels can easily be cellared through 2026 and enjoyed for the next 5 to 8 years.
Smells
Aromas of warm blackberry pie, cassis, vanilla, and coconut
Tastes
At 3 years of age the tannins are beginning to soften nicely showing rich rounded notes of boysenberry, ripe plum and nougat. A beautiful wine for its age and is set to age gracefully over the next 5 years. Serve with roast lamb.
