Description

Bordeaux varietals are a rare find in the South Island but it’s something the Donaldson Family have been growing from day 1. Their Merlot and Cabernet vines are over 30 years old now and given they are old vines, ungrafted, and planted on free draining gravel soils; they managed to ripen the grapes, year in and year out. Like all their wines in the Main Divide range, they offer excellent value for money, everyday drinking wines. For the perfect, easy-drinking red wine tonight to serve with a hearty stew or soup, look no further…

Smells

a sweet, lifted bouquet of wild berries, bramble, bracken, blackcurrant leaf, cedar, and spice.

Tastes

generously fruited, with dusty, chalky tannins giving structure and drinkability. Lingering flavours of cassis, red liquorice, plums, and milk chocolate with hints of coffee grind and toasty, vanilla oak. Drinking well now through 2028. The recommended serving temperature is 16-18 degrees.

We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
