Description
Crafted from a single vineyard and aged in French oak barriques, the fruit intensity is impressive, opulent spiced plum flavours mingle with cedar through the long, silky finish. A strong and robust Merlot which is, as usual from Mission Estate, outstanding value for money.
Smells
Dark plum, blackberry and touches of currant, with overtones of wild thyme, dried rosemary, and some earthy notes adding a savoury element.
Tastes
Impressively structured, an abundance of black fruit and chocolate. A herbal spice lingers in the background, and the finish develops into soft chocolatey coffee notes. The tannins are chewy and voluminous adding structure suggesting that this is no wallflower and will age quite well for 4-5 years. Made for a fine cut of beef.
