Brokenstone Merlot Cabernet is largely sold in fine dining and fine wine retail… we all know sales have dramatically slowed with the global cost of living affected economy. Sacred Hill have come to us with 112 cases of the stunning 2019 Prestige Brokenstone Merlot Cabernet at an unprecedented price of $29.99. From the superb 2019 vintage it has three 95-95-96/100 ratings… including 95 from Bob Campbell Master of Wine. Bob says of 2019 Brokenstone… Ripe, berry-ish wine with a lovely mellow texture. More vinous than fruity. Very appealing wine that clearly benefitted from a favourable vintage. Should develop well with bottle age. 14 JUN 2022." Drink 2022 – 2030”. The fruit is hand harvested from the best vines. Most vats are fermented with indigenous yeasts from the vineyard. Fermentations are slow and steady with grapes spending 30 to 40 days in the fermenting vat before running off the new wines and basket pressing the skins. After a 24-hour settling period, the new wines are transferred to barrel, spending 19 months in French oak, 22% NEW. The balance of fruit concentration and oak is impressive. At 6-years it is drinking beautifully... no hurry... it will drink superbly through 2031+.

An enticing floral edge to the impressively fresh… cedar, plum, blackberry, liquorice, chocolate, exotic spice aromas.
Tastes
Lavish and luxurious in the mouth as you’d expect and want from a prestige Merlot led red wine. Brokenstone is opulent, full-bodied, and layered with black fruits, spices, chocolate, subtle herbs and spicy oak, while maintaining a classic 'Bordeaux like freshness’ that makes it so food friendly and moreish on the finish! Totally delicious at 6-years of age… it can be cellared for a decade or more. Serve with hearty stews or roasted red meats… save a glass or two to savour and contemplate after dinner.
