Description
Squawking Magpie has many tiers of quality levels within its portfolio. The Gravels collection is about celebrating the quality of fruit from the Hawke’s Bay region. The wines pay particular attention to fruit quality and winemaking, particularly in the oaking, and “the intention is to over-deliver on value with these wines”. Combine that with the stonkingly good vintage of 2020 in Hawkes Bay and you have a winner right there. A wine that drinks well now and will cellar 8-10years.
Smells
A layered fragrant nose of ripe plum and cassis with lifted vanilla, cedar, and tobacco notes.
Tastes
This wine is deep in colour and the palate has a rich velvety texture with excellent structure, ripe black fruits, dark chocolate and cassis flavours. The tannins are smooth, supple and perfectly encase the generous fruit giving a slightly robust nature, and enhancing the drinkability and age-ability of this wine. The tannins linger, giving a lip-smacking sensation. Perfect with lamb, beef and venison.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
