Description
Based in Montalcino, this famous Brunello producer, founded in 1580, has had great success over the past few years, winning Decanter Best in Show for their 2015 vintage, and 2016 receiving a double 97 and more recently Wine Spectator No1 Wine of 2023! The 2019 is heralded as even better, thanks to the precision and focus of the fruit flavours, highlighting how outstanding the 2019 vintage was. Do not delay as more accolades will follow for this wine, meaning it will be scooped up within seconds. Their Brunello is classic Sangiovese Grosso (the clone prevalent in these parts) with earthy, dark fruit and cherry flavours and a good core of acidity.
Smells
Dark plums and morello cherry fill the nose carried along by a multitude of complex highlights, rose petal, liquorice, sandalwood, and balsamic notes.
Tastes
At five years old, it is still vibrant and expressive, ripe plums and dark berries mix beautifully with earthy wild mushrooms and spices. Perfectly ripe tannins add to the enjoyment and provide a structure that ensures ageing will be long and graceful. Wonderful with most classic Tuscan meat dishes. Enjoy now until 2032+. The recommended serving temperature is 15-17 degrees.
