Description
The first Vi de Finca Qualificada from Terra Alta is a wine produced from a single plot of land that has singular soil and climate characteristics. Made from 60% Garnacha Peluda, 30% Garnacha Fina and 10% Carinena, from 40-year-old vines. Matured in 500l French casks for 12 months, bestowing harmony to the wine. A top-quality Spanish wine of class and heritage selling for a fraction of the price, similar quality wines from France would sell for. This quality for $60, is unheard of. Sadly only 10 dozen arrived on our fair shores, so it won’t be here for long….
Smells
lifted aromas of graphite, blue fruits, dusty, cedar, balsamic and mint with vanilla oak.
Tastes
there is a charge of vibrant, energised fruit initially, the palate is powerful, silky smooth with well-integrated tannins. Rich yet focused a wine of two halves, juicy fruit with lingering chalky, chewy, and salivating tannins. A wine that stands out for its elegance, complexity and masculine, muscly structure yet poised at the same time. Cellar for 7-10 years+ and serve with dark meats.
