Description
In 1972, Paul Boutinot briefly dabbled in construction before realizing his true passion lay in wine. After honing his skills in London, he returned to Greater Manchester to help run his father’s restaurant. Frustrated by the UK’s wine selection, he took matters into his own hands—hiring a van, driving to France, and sourcing better wines himself. Word spread, and soon, other restaurateurs sought his expertise. In 1980, Boutinot Wines was born in the unlikely wine hub of Stockport. Today, with vineyards across France, the company remains deeply committed to the industry, driven by the same passion that started it all. Boutinot’s love affair with the Southern Rhône spans thirty years of making wine in the region. In 2010, Boutinot cemented its passion for Rhône wines with the purchase of a winery and vineyards above the village of Cairanne. Their 2020 Côtes du Rhône Villages is a testament to this dedication, showcasing their commitment to quality and tradition.
Smells
Deep, dark, earthy aromas of blackberries, bramble, baked red earth and spice.
Tastes
Immediately impressive, this wine reveals its class from the start. Brambly fruit underpinned by subtle oaky nuances, lovely, sweet spice - warm star anise with a touch of cinnamon. This classic Côtes du Rhône Villages is enriched with specially selected parcels from Séguret and Sablet. A rich, unctuous wine, with robust, mouth coating tannins. Drinking well now through 2030 and will be a delicious accompaniment to grilled meats, mushroom ragout or simply a good pizza. The recommended serving temperature is 15-17 degreed.
