Description
The Spanish phrase “Manda Huevos” translates to English as “I can´t believe it” or “get out of here”. Norrell’s vineyards are located within the commune of Villarroya in Calatayud but he felt obliged by necessity to make these wines outside of the Denominación de Origen. This is a red from two old vine parcels. One block was planted in 1908 and contains an assortment of varieties with around 85% Garnacha Tinta Fina and the remainder being a mix of Garnacha Blanca, Moristel and Bobal. The lower part was planted in 1970 and is 100% Garnacha Tinta Fina. Needless to say, you’re unlikely to get a wine made of grapes of this age for under $100. Great value and very impressive.
Smells
Dried herb, complex dark berry fruit, subtle balsamic notes, and dark chocolate.
Tastes
Brooding, complex and concentrated with dark blackberry note, savoury notes and fine grained, long tannins. This wine is built for hearty food or long-term cellaring. Enjoy through 2025+and the perfect partner for hearty stews, or slow roasted meats.
