Description
Grandeza Gran Tradicion is a delicious blend of 85% Tempranillo & 15% Syrah. Made with fruit harvested off old vines from the central plains of Spain, where little rain falls, and warm daytime temperatures and cool nights prevail. Hot summers and drying winds enable the low yielding old bush vines to produce concentrated fruit without the use of pesticides. It results in an intensely flavoured red wine with ripe engaging tannins. 6 years aged it’s in a perfect drinking window where primary flavours are transitioning to savoury, the best of both words. Could cellar another 3-4 years but why on earth would you.
Smells
Charming floral notes give way to an amalgam of red berries & plums with spice and hints of vanilla.
Tastes
6 years old the palate is showing lovely spicey development while retaining delicious red berry, plum fruits with subtle prunes. The ripe fine-grained tannins add to its immense pleasure. Nicely rounded with a savoury edge, the concentration leaves a warmth of flavour deep on the finish. Enjoy with hard cheese, cured meats (perfect with Iberico ham) … and with most BBQ fare.
