Crafted by renowned winemaker Franco Bernabei, Icario beautifully expresses the essence of their terroir, echoing the rich history of Italy's first DOCG. Rosso di Montepulciano is where the legendary Italian Sangiovese grape rocks, in this wine enhanced by the smooth richness of Merlot. This combination creates a vibrant, fruit-driven wine overflowing with bright red fruits, soft tannins, and a touch of elegance… in tandem with a smooth textural palate. Rosso di Montepulciano offers superb drinking wines, perfect for most occasions, also for those very special times. 97/100 Decanter & Platinum at DWWA 2024 – 500 cases made and just 50 for NZ, all exclusive to Fine Wine Delivery customers.
Smells
Heady aromas of red cherries, red liquorice and dark berry with a baked red earth and bramble undercurrent.
Tastes
The vibrant acidity of Sangiovese is perfectly complemented by the velvety texture of Merlot, resulting in a balanced, charming red wine with depth and lovely mouthfeel. A buoyant expression of two iconic grape varieties in perfect unison. The sum is greater than the two parts, simply stunning. Drinking now through 2028. Serve with roasted beef or lamb, stews, and mature hard cheese. The recommended serving temperature is 15-17 degrees.
