Description
Amarone is the most full-bodied of all Italian wines, this one that former All Black John Kirwan imports weighing in at a whopping 16% alcohol. It’s made from a blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara, the native grapes of the region. The grapes are dried on racks in the classical fashion to concentrate the sugars, the wine spending 1 years in barrique and then a further 2 years in gigantic 25hL oak barrels. A decadent and velvety wine, this is a gorgeous example of a legendary Italian wine style.
Smells
Big, cuddly, and jammy nose of cherries, blackberries, vanilla, and exotic spices.
Tastes
Voluptuous and full-bodied, with a dense core of dark fruit, raisins, coffee and chocolate, the finish is long, velvety, and sensuous. Well, done, JK… we’re excited to have another Amarone of this quality for NZ drinkers to enjoy! Now to 2030 with an exciting Italian cheese selection, go shopping.
