Description
There are 10 Cru in Beaujolais, representing the 10 best villages, meaning they can put the village name on the label. Fleurie is certainly one of the most celebrated of the ten Crus of Beaujolais the vineyard is planted on a slope below the main ridge of hills and is oriented south-east, north-west, gaining both morning and afternoon sun. The soils consist of pink granite, perfect for Gamay, resulting in wines of great breed and class.
Smells
Intense and elegant aromas of peony, tea, rose and damson plum and with nuances of liquorice and fresh fennel.
Tastes
the palate is beautifully structured, with a velvety texture, a fatness yet majestic with a long, refined, appetising finish but in a subdued way at the same time. A Cru from Beaujolais that some consider the closest in style to the Burgundies of the Cote d’Or. The tannins are again that playful take on robust and fine, hugging and caressing at the same time. Delicious drinking now through 2027 and perfect with roasted red meats or game.
