Description
Drouhin is one of those labels that gives assurance and confidence that all their wines will be of a very high-quality level and value for money. Rest assured and feel at ease, you will be making a sound purchase. And this Morgon is pure evidence, one of the top 10 Cru of Beaujolais, showing wonderful characteristics of the traditional winemaking techniques, that of whole bunches, and semi-carbonic maceration. Whole bunches are put in the vat, blanketed with CO2 and after a few days plunged allowing fermentation throughout the vat, extracting colour and tannins from the skins before pressing after 4-10 days. Morgon is one of the more robust Cru of Beaujolais giving character and longevity. A cut above the rest.
Smells
a deep, dark and brooding bouquet with blackberries, bramble, tar, cedar and spice with hints of rose petals.
Tastes
the wines of Morgon have good colour as well as a solid tannic structure with flavours of dark berries, a bouquet garni of dried herbs, rosehips, cedar, baking spices and an earthy complexity. The tannins are robust yet charming gripping your cheeks but, in a supply, and silky manner. Delicious on every level. Perfect drinking now through 2028 with gamey meats and savoury pasta dishes.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
