Description
Jaysen Collins and Dan Standish established Massena at the beginning of the century. With a plan only to make wines for themselves, they found themeslves sharing their wines and suddenly selling their wines, and before they knew it, they had a business. This 2017 Moonlight Run Mataro Grenache Shiraz blew away the FWD Team and with 95 Points from James Halliday, its easy to see why.
Smells
So much going on, black currant, red currant, smoked meats with pepper and cumin.
Tastes
An intricate red, crunchy red and black berries, spice and toasted notes. The oak is in the background, adding a creaminess while to the silken tannins. Good acidity, great length. It's drinking so well now, but would love to see it evolve through to 2027+. Enjoy with a rare scotch fillet or portobello mushroom burger.
