An immediately charming wine, this Italian stalwart plays beautifully in Waiheke's 2020 vintage. A rich and generous style of wine, it's very densely fruited, much like a great Syrah, but with a rustic, meaty edge that makes you hanker for a pizza. This Obsidian Montepulciano will be a serious hit with Kiwi wine lovers.
Smells
Crunchy red fruit, red currants, raspberries, and spiciness with a hint of tar.
Tastes
Very primary, cherries and redcurrants, with darker fruits and spice. Big mouthfeel, drying but fine tannins. The acidity is good and the length long. Enjoy now, or cellar until 2030, with a proper Napoli-style pizza.
