Description
Barossa folklore claims the pioneers were so frugal that when they killed a pig on the farm for meat and smallgoods, they used everything but the squeal. When Rockford make their Alicante Rose, the the skin of the grapes are not needed, and so they co-ferment them with early picked Grenache and Mataro to make their Frugal Farmer. The addition of the Alicante skins to the ferment gives tannin, spice and a vibrant garnet colour to the wine.
Smells
Raspberry, dark cherries and redcurrants with florals notes and spice.
Tastes
Red berries are abundant on the palate with baking spices and a savoury earthiness. The tannins call out for red meat or hard cheese. Enjoy now or over the next 3 years.
