Description
Sister’s Run is serious fun. Their talented young winemaker Elena wears steel cap work boots every day of course but carries a pair of high heels back of the ute, only for emergencies, like last minute invitations to accept trophies at gala wine show dinners and the like. Returning from a ‘knees-up’ at midnight, mid vintage, she managed to kick off one high heel and slip back into a boot’ just as the cellar crew cried out, ‘Run Sister Run’; and exactly then Elena & Sister’s Run took flight! The stiletto and boot are Sister’s Run; an independently owned and operated winery with a fierce commitment to making the best wines they can from family vineyards. St Ann’s McLaren Vale Grenache need not be the last; but the first glass you have. A true expression of Grenache procured from the McLaren Vale in all its fruitful glory. Lovely sipping on one's own, with friends, and almost any dish… followed by a second glass. An impressive 5 Gold Medals… I’m sure Elena had a memorable ‘knees up’ after winning Champion Trophy for #1 McLaren Vale Grenache at the IWC in London. It will age 5-7 years… but is so appealing as a young red.
Smells
Classic grenache aromatics of berried confectionery, mulberry and blackberry preserve with spice and aniseed… effortless and enticing.
Tastes
The palate is plush with mulberry, plum, blackberry fruits, both mouth filling and caressing. Excellent fruit depth, the silky textured, softly tannined medium body has subtly embracing acidity. It finishes with a youthful energy you would expect from McLaren Vale Grenache, both fine and flavoursome. After reading this, it’s a must try, simply superb. The recommended serving temperature is 15-17 degrees.
