Description
The Avatar blend is the older, bigger sibling to the juicy Joshua red from Teusner, a Grenache Mataro Shiraz blend that sees time in old oak for a year. The oak is but a bit player in the Avatar though, as this wine is all about the dark savoury black fruits combining to create a beautifully defined and layered Barossa red, made from old vine fruit sourced from Teusner's partner growers. A tremendous wine for the cellar, but it has the poise and integration to be very enjoyable straight off the bat.
Smells
Perfumed and lifted, blackberries, plums, dried herbs and baking spice.
Tastes
A very juicy and lively palate, with crunch blue and black fruit, spice, vanila and a dash of cola. Firm and rounded tannins combined with balanced acidity and bring a good long finish. Enjoy now with red meats, or cellar until 2030+. Recommended serving temperature 15c.
