Description

Considered a little brother to Chateauneuf-du-Pape the wine is moderately prestigious and can age well when treated with care. Only red grapes grow in the region and Gigondas red wines must be made from 80% Grenache, a minimum of 15% Syrah and/or Mourevdre and a maximum of 10% of the other Rhone varieties. Gigondas are typically full-bodied robust wines, that offer great value.

Smells

perfumed aromas of dark fruits layered with red berries, lavender, seaweed and brown baking spice.

Tastes

the forward, generous fruit of Grenache stands its ground, striking on the palate and then quickly brought into line by the chalky, dusty tannins of Syrah and/or Mourevdre. And where the earthy, complex flavours on the finish speak more of Mourevdre. A superb combination, and perfect for BBQ meats. Decant prior to serving or age 5-7 years in a temperature-controlled cellar. The recommended serving temperature is 16-18 degrees.
