Description

Home Block, Retrospect and Cuvee Antipodes Pinot Noirs have been crafted off this prized terroir… all world class Pinots ranging in price from $75-$150 bottle. Revered Burgundy Winemaker Francois Millet previously of Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé has said of Prophets Rock winemaker Paul Pujol… that he makes the region’s best Pinot Noir. Francois invited Paul to do vintage at Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé... and made Prophets Rock Cuvee Antipodes off their Bendigo vineyards. We’ve always admired and championed the fabulous Prophets Rock wines, so seized the opportunity to “Collaborate” with Paul on our 27th Birthday Anniversary Collaboration Central Otago Pinot Noir. Here is a sample review from a very happy customer… 'Wow. This was indeed a surprise, in a good way/ It was very smooth and exceeded our expectations - so much so that we ordered another couple of cases. Its easy drinking now and will probably get better with age - if we can keep it that long' – Stephen
The quality v price is impressive – it’s not to be compared to Prophet’s Rock’s $75-$150 bottle Home Block, Retrospect and Cuvee Antipodes Pinot Noirs of course. Critically it is off Prophet’s Rock’s Bendigo Estate and crafted by winemaking genius Paul Pujol. Character, style, structure and moreishness… the quality v price is extraordinary, which has always been the primary objective in our “Collaboration” projects over 13-years. It’s too good for the price and ideally needs a light decant when drinking now… and is cellar worthy through 2026-28.

Smells

Intense dark cherry and raspberry with exotic spices and fragrant mountain thyme.

Tastes

Deep and luscious, it is a complex, textural and balanced Pinot Noir. The finish is seamless and long, with subtle French oak complementing the vibrant berry and cherry fruit. Excellent drinkability, each glass exceeding the previous. Impressive value Central Otago Pinot Noir to enjoy with venison, duck, light game meats, or simply to drink and enjoy, between now and 2028.

OK at the price point but disappointing compared to some of FWD other offers

Really enjoyed the intensity of this wine and the after taste lingered on giving one a great feeling of satisfaction.

For a young Pinot it was extremely drinkable. A typical CO Pinot Noir - full of fruit and mouhfulling. Great value at this price point.

19th September 2024 | Gary Dalton

One to savour! Rich, complex and delicious. A generous pinot, opulent with a berry velvety finish.

19th September 2024 | Colleen

A very well priced wine with a very nice aroma, full body and what I really enjoyed was how long it stayed on my palate.

19th September 2024 | Tony Chadwick

Needs 4-5 yrs in bottle but already great notes and promising body

19th September 2024 | Peter Lupi

This wine punches well above it's weight. It's very drinkable now, and will age well I believe. Great value for money.

19th September 2024 | Gareth Dormon

This is a lovely warming wine with quality that well exceeds its price. Would recommend

Exceptional wine for the price highly recommend

19th September 2024 | Dean

Great, wine, was quite surprised by the very earthy style. I was expecting a few more Central Otago fruit notes in here, such as cherry. Perhaps I should have given this wine some air.

19th September 2024 | Rory Sudfelt

Wow. This was indeed a surprise, in a good way. It was very smooth and exceeded our expectations—so much so that we ordered another couple of cases. It's easy drinking now, and it will probably get better with age—if we can keep it that long.

Serious Pinot fir the price. The balance between fruit and structure shows the winemakers genius. I had open for three days and continued to develop and surprise. Just magic for the money!

19th September 2024 | Simon Owers

Smooth, layered , good value
