Description
“Clos des Cortons Faiveley” has been owned by the Faiveley family as a monopole (owned solely by one entity) since 1874. It is the domaine’s flagship wine and one of just two Bourgogne Grands Crus to bear the name of its owner (Romanée-Conti being the other). Grand Cru, the crème de la crème, a must try. The grapes had a percentage of whole clusters, and the rest of the grapes were destemmed. After 19 days in the fermenter, the free-run wine was run off using a gravity system whilst the skins were slowly pressed in order to extract an exceptionally pure press wine. Barrel Aging: 18 months in French oak barrels- 50% new oak, 50% second fill barrels.
Smells
The nose is powerful, and concentrated and exudes notes of black cherry and spice.
Tastes
The palate is rich and smooth with good energy and concentration, and being from the 2022 vintage, there is harmony, balance and poise in respect to the fruit, tannin and acidity. The finish is elegant, fine yet forthright. Excellent cellaring potential, for 15-20 years+. Serve with your finest home cooked cuisine. For optimal drinking pleasure, the recommended serving temperature is 13-15 degrees.
