Description

A boutique gem near Alexandra in Central Otago, 8 Ranges is devoted to Pinot Noir excellence—no expense spared, no detail overlooked. Their single-vineyard Pinot is low-yielding (just 5 tonnes per hectare), 100% hand-harvested, and aged in fine French oak, ensuring exceptional depth and complexity. With Trail Rider 2017 earning Cuisine No.1 in their second tier, their flagship wine is nothing short of breathtaking. This is Pinot with a serious side—elegant, expressive, and utterly captivating. If you love great Pinot, don’t hesitate—this one’s a must-have!

Smells

layers of red fruit, confected notes, exotic spices, milk chocolate, crushed thyme giving way to toast and vanilla, you could simply smell the nose all night long, intoxicating.

Tastes

silky, textural, and ultimately satisfying are words that spring to mind. A wonderful combination of red and dark fruits with a savoury, earthy, herbal vein giving complexity and interest, encouraging the need for another taste to further access its qualities. Drinking well now and will cellar for 5-7 years. A textbook Central Pinot Noir that will not disappoint. Roasted duck breast or other gamey treats will make for a match made in heaven. The recommended serving temperature is 13-15 degrees.
