Description
Joseph Drouhin is one of the stalwarts of Burgundy and Gevrey-Chambertin one of the most famous villages of the Cote d’Or and 2020 is an excellent vintage. Three out of three ain’t bad…. This wine being exactly what Pinot Noir and Burgundy are all about, incredibly complex, savoury and exceptionally well structured where the silky-smooth tannins simply coat the cheeks and linger. No hurry to drink as will cellar for 8-10years+ in a temperature-controlled cellar.
Smells
an earthy complex bouquet suggestive of walking in the forest on a warm summer’s afternoon, shortly after its lightly rained. Interwoven are aromas of red berries, cedar and spice, heavenly.
Tastes
Red Burgundy is all about the structure, the long, linear palate with an emphasis on the tannin/acid balance and where the fruit is laced around this structural core. One sip and you will see what all the hype is about. Perfect with gamey meats. The recommended serving temperature is 13-15 degrees.
