Description
While it might not be their bread and butter, Kumeu Estate are no strangers to Pinot Noir. This one is from their new Hawke's Bay Vineyard; the Pinot Noir was planted in 2008 as a joint venture between Trinity Hill and Pascal Jolivet of the Loire Valley.
Smells
A gorgeous bouquet of cherries coated in pan warmed brown spices with hints of vanilla and an overlay of raspberries, violets, and thyme with a mineral edge.
Tastes
Light in colour but having said that, a wine with flare, especially on the finish, a classic Peacock tail flare on the finish. Vibrant and clean on the palate. Dark cherries and raspberries with a green tea like tannin. Youthful yet charming tannins with acid to boot, giving a deliciously drinkable structure right now, but has the fruit weight to age. Drink between 2024 - 2028. Enjoy with crispy skin roast pork.
