Paul Pujol's famous Home Block Pinot Noir has a cult following, top of the shopping list with the fussiest Pinot buyers. When the legendary Burgundy winemaker Francois Millet of Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue came to the Central Otago Pinot Conference many years ago, he selected Prophets Rock as his favourite of the region and invited Paul back to Burgundy to do a vintage with him. Their friendship and mutual respect have flourished and lasted. Francois loved the vineyard so much that he makes the tiny Prestige release “Cuvee Aux Antipodes” off these vines. The yields are exceptionally small resulting in highly concentrated fruit. No stems in the fermentation, plus a focus on minimal extraction and numerous techniques learnt from Francois… result in the purest of Pinot Noir matured in a judicious mix of French oak. A James Suckling rated 97/100 Masterpiece… this 2022 is challenging the 2021 for possibly the best Home Vineyard we have ever tasted.
