Prophet's Rock wines are crafted by internationally experienced NZ winemaker Paul Pujol who has presided over the winery since returning home from his travels circa 2008. Olearia Lineata is a small dense tree with elegant fine branches and tiny drought-resistant leaves that once carpeted the valley floors of Central Otago. Fortunately, there are large numbers of these officially ‘at-risk’ trees in and around both their Bendigo vineyards and continue to plant more. This wine comes from the very steep, highest elevation parcels on their Rocky Point Vineyard, planted on mineral-rich schist soils, consistently yielding fruit with dense, dark flavour and superb chalky tannins. Hand-picked fruit, indigenous ferment and the use of quality French barrels are central to this Pinot that speaks of the site, the soils and the man.

Black cherry, and thyme underpinned with complex floral aromas.

Dense, charming, sweet Otago black cherry fruit with an attractive tangy plum infusion with hints of liquorice. Nicely contrasted by complex notes of wild thyme, nutmeg/cinnamon, and spicy oak with an endearing suggestion of Black Forest Gateaux on the finish. It has the weight and complexity of wines much more expensive, enjoy this great value Central Pinot through to 2030.
