Since the late 90’s we have witnessed this wine's remarkable ability to age gracefully and become very complex over years of cellaring. Deep and very concentrated with signature tannin structure that comes from the interaction of the roots with the schist soils. This is classic Rippon Mature Vine Pinot Noir... its combination of purity, elegance, subtlety and minerality a nod to its bio-dynamic environment. A cellar tasting of 2010 Rippon Mature Vine Pinot last year by James Suckling drew NZ’s first 100/100 international rating. James followed up with a massive 99/100 for 2017 vintage and 98/100 for 2018 & 2019 vintage. Here we go again… another huge, 97/100 for this outstanding 2020. From an excellent vintage, and having only just been released, we believe it is only going to get better! At least 20 years in quality storage.

Lifted aromas of violets, red berries, cream, a seductive earthy, forest floor undercurrent, spice, and mineral flair.

This Pinot certainly has crunch factor with delicious red fruit flavours of raspberries and cranberries with fine nutty and savoury subtleties. The tannins are divine, coating every millimetre of your cheeks, clinging on for dear life, but in an extra-ordinary, succulent, and salivating manner - superb on every level. A wine with energy, vibrancy, concentration, balance, charm, and poise. Simply Grand Cru!
