Description
Wild Earth owner Quintin Quider’s passion for Pinot Noir saw Wild Earth wines rapidly vault to global prominence soon after their 2003 startup - their 2006 Pinot Noir winning five trophies at the IWC in London, including Best Red Wine in the World. Golds & 5 Star ratings rolled in with ensuing vintages. 2016 was awarded Platinum Best in Show at Decanter with an impressive 97 points! Their 2020 picked up 2 Trophies at the Aotearoa Regional Wine Awards and 5 stars from Winestate Magazine. The 2021, from an outstanding vintage achieved 3 Major Gold’s plus 6 x 5 Star ratings… including 96/100 and finalist in Winestate Australasian Pinot Noir Champion, as well as another huge 96/100 at the Decanter World Wine Awards in London. This 2023 has just been released, but already looking the goods! Suffice to say its vineyard origins are special when you reflect on its 18-years of huge global success and brilliant winemaking, by the hands of former NZ Winemaker of the Year, Jen Parr. 2023 is a great vintage and you can expect to enjoy this Pinot beyond the 10-year mark if well cared for.
Smells
Brooding with deep notes of blackberry, Satsuma plum, fine spices, wild herbs.
Tastes
Silky smooth with outstanding concentration of black plum, blueberry and cassis infused with complex baking spices and fine herbs. The tannin/acid balance is seductive and the length divine. Enjoy upon release through 10 years, serve with gamey meats and savoury pasta dishes… save a glass or two for after dinner. For optimal drinking pleasure the recommended serving temperature is 13-15 degrees.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
