Description
Te Whare Ra (TWR) were legendary from their onset as one of Marlborough’s early vineyards in 1979. The vineyard & winery is in the Marlborough sub-region of Renwick and owned by winemakers – Anna & Jason Flowerday since 2003. The 11-ha vineyard has predominantly loam over clay soils, originally planted in 1979. Yields are kept low; the vineyard is managed with a combination of organic & biodynamic practices... all the fruit is handpicked and hand sorted. For husband-and-wife team Anna & Jason, it is all about love; the love of each other, their love of the land, their love of winemaking! Passion, dedication, and determination encapsulate this dynamic duo and all that they do, which is clearly on show in the wonderful wines they craft. Made in a “Classic DRY Style” - this 2023 TWR Rosé is a blend of Pinot Noir & Syrah, maintaining the house style. Elegant wines with purity of fruit, supple textures and layers of fine complexities. Sophisticated Rosé to be enjoyed now and over 3-5 years.
Smells
Seductive aromas of strawberries and cream with freshly baked shortbread underpinned by a perfumed lift of violets and rose petals.
Tastes
Initially this wine seems delicate, but it builds and builds with fruit weight and power giving way to a long, savoury, textural, ethereal finish. Summer ripened berry & cherry flavours dominate with hints of mulberry and spices, all interwoven by a fine thread of acidity bringing harmony. Gorgeous summer drinking - perfect with fresh salads, picnic fare & pre-dinner platters… simply perfect anytime!
